Any of you who had grown up in our era (and we're not disclosing our age...you'll just have to guess)...there was a popular TV series in North America called Twin Peaks. We had stumbled on to this cafe on a road trip that had started out as a day trip to hike Snoqualmie Falls. But we arrived at the falls only to find out the trail is closed until summer 2013!

Not to waste a beautiful warm and sunny Easter Monday, we embarked on a quest to find a place for a spot of wine and sun. This is where our journey began.....
We had visited every pub and grill within a 50km radius of the falls and none had an open patio or felt bothered to put out their patio seating for travelers like us looking for a drink under the sun.
After what seemed like hours of driving and now parched, we circled back to this cafe to sample Twin Peaks Cherry Pie in North Bend, WA.

Not a bad slice of pie in a funky little cafe! Although we still didn't have our glass of wine, we had our pie "a la mode" and this seemed to have lifted our spirits for our drive home.
Back in downtown Kirkland, we made one last attempt to have a drink - patio style - ahhh......seated and being served, the warm sun beaming on us, we were looking forward to a cold glass of wine.....or so we thought! Kurt had left his wallet in the car at home - no ID, no drink! Bugger!
No worries, though! We had a nice big jug of homemade and extra boozy sangria waiting for us in the fridge at home :)
As in many times in life.....what we sometimes set out to do, do not always work out as we would hope but along the journey, the side roads and detours we take lead us to places and people that open up exciting and unexpected new adventures..........
